MISTIC SEAS II Project

The MISTIC SEAS II project - Application of a coherent and coordinated sub-regional approach for the monitoring and evaluation of marine biodiversity in Macaronesia, for the 2nd cycle of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), ran between March 2017 and March 2019, having as partners several public entities from Portugal and Spain.

The results of the project will support the reassessment of the environmental status of Descriptor 1 - Biodiversity, as well as the review of the Monitoring and Measures Programmes in the Macaronesian sub-region, in the 2nd cycle of the DQEM.

The project was financed by the European Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) in the direct management component of the European Commission for the implementation of the said Directive.

MISTIC´SEAS Project

TThe MISTIC´SEAS project took place between December 2015 and February 2017, with the aim of establishing a common methodology for monitoring marine biodiversity in the Macaronesian sub-region, focusing on populations of marine species of cetaceans, turtles and birds, and also establish a common roadmap for better coordination in the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) in this sub-region. It was financed by the European Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) in the direct management component of the European Commission for the implementation of the MSFD.
