Framework

The management of the anchovy quota attributed to Portugal is ensured by considering the social, economic and environmental impacts of the exploitation of the resource, with the participation and monitoring of associations and Producer Organizations representing the fishing sector, aiming to develop responsible, sustainable fishing and improve the income of the activity.

 

Ordinance No. 308/2020, of December 30, Establishes the rules for the management of the quota available for anchovy (Engraulis encrasicholus) in sub-zone 9 of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea, as of January 10, 2021.

Pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 5 of article 2 of Ordinance No. 308/2021, of 30 December, Dispatch No. 28/DG/2023, that determines de management measures for anchovy was published, which will authorize directed fishing from 00:00 on the 16th of July.
