Framework

Directorate-General of Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM) is the coordinating body for the process leading to the approval of factory vessels and freezer vessels. A factory vessel is a vessel where fishery products are subjected to one or more of the following operations, followed by packaging or packing and, if necessary, cooling or freezing: filleting, cutting, skinning, mincing or processing. A freezer vessel is a vessel where fishery products are frozen and, where appropriate, after a preparation such as bleeding, heading, gutting and fins removal, these operations being followed by packaging or packing, when necessary. The mentioned vessels may only start their activity after survey, once they have been assigned the veterinary control number (act issued by the Directorate-General of Food and Veterinary) and the approval is completed (act issued by the Directorate-General of Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services).
