The iFADO (Innovation in the Deep Atlantic Ocean) project aims to create maritime services at a regional and sub-regional scale using the Atlantic space as a case study.

By completing the existing technical gaps, iFADO will contribute to the implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) to demonstrate the application of innovative products. The project will combine traditional monitoring with cutting edge technologies: satellites, numerical modeling and new platforms such as gliders and ocean buoys.

The project is formed by a consortium of several reference entities in the countries that make up the Atlantic Arc, namely: Portugal, Spain, Ireland, France and the United Kingdom. This project has a budget of €3.6M and has been estimated to last 48 months.
