Fishing Sector - Resumption of activity

When you want to restart your professional fishing activity, as long as the last license was issued at least 6 years ago (vessels) and at least 2 years ago (catchers/fishers on foot).

Professional fishermen, whether individual or collective owners/shipowners, with a license issued for at least 6 years.

Marine animal catchers and fishermen on foot, with a license issued for at least 2 years.

For collective owners/shipowners, the request must be made by an individual user of the Electronic Balcony of the Sea (BMar) representing the entity (see the Leaflet and User Manual in the answer to Where can I apply?).

Applications are submitted via onlineDesk - Balcão Eletrónico do Mar (BMar):

1. Open www.bmar.pt, please register and log in.
2. Press the New Request button, choose the following category "Professional Fishing" and Request type "Fishing Sector - Resumption of activity".
3. Fill in the required data.
4. Attach the documents requested in the fields provided for this purpose.
5. Check your request summary and submit the application.

Catchers/fishers on foot:

1. Updated proof of registration in the finances in the fishing activity issued by the AT;

2. Other documents considered relevant.

If representative:

  • Statement or power of attorney from the holder (a mandatory document to initiate the process).

If representative of an entity:

  • Statement legal representative of an entity (a mandatory document to initiate the process).

For vessels, the value varies according to GT (Gross Tonnage), with the coefficient of licensed gear and/or target species.

For catchers/fishers on foot the value is €9.98 or €19.96, depending on the licensed gear.
